Catholic faithful will be able to return to temples, churches, parishes, and sanctuaries in
Cusco region —starting November 15— to participate in the celebration of Masses and sacraments, the Archbishopric of Cusco reported on Friday.
The announcement was made by Cusco's Archbishop Monsignor Richard Alarcon in his last homily.
"We received good news today. As of Sunday, November 15, we will be able to attend Holy Mass in person once again," he said.
To do so, the
Peruvian Episcopal Conference reached an agreement with the Government so as to comply with health protocols during of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This is the responsibility of all of us, not only that of bishops and priests, but of all Catholic faithful," he added.
Measures
The volunteer staff supporting the Catholic Church will take into account hygiene, health, and biosafety measures established in the "Protocol for Catholic Church's Religious Activities in Times of Pandemic."
Other factors to be considered include the capacity of attendees, the use of face masks and face shields (if possible), hand washing, disinfection of footwear, social distancing rules, and schedules.
Moreover, virtual celebrations will remain available in the media and social networks.
